Blue Oyster Resident 2020

Owen Connors was the Blue Oyster Art Project Space Caselberg Trust Summer Resident for 2020.

Over three weeks, from Tuesday 14 January, Connors was based at the Caselberg Trust House and Charles Brasch Studio in Broad Bay, developing research and artwork for their upcoming exhibition with Blue Oyster, opening in early April 2020.

Owen's residency began with their ongoing research into The New Zealand AIDS Quilts and queer traditions of projective poetics. Connors’ appreciated dedicated time spent in the Charles Brasch Studio, hosting reading events at the house and exploring new textile and poetic trajectories through the privilege of time and a new environment.

On top of expanding on the various threads of research, Connors intended to expand their collaborative network of practitioners, utilising their time in Ōtepoti to connect and create sustainable relationships with the queer community of practitioners based in the south.
