Bridget Reweti with her work in the Charles Branch studio

The 2019 Caselberg Creative Connections resident, Bridget Reweti, finished her 3 month residency at the house on the 12 January 2020.

Bridget has really enjoyed the freedom to work and develop her ideas, changing from her original film idea to creating casts of sea shells (as seen in these photos). She has been making moulds of shells from Otago Harbour & will do the same for Tauranga Harbour and has then made ‘shells’ from sea salt (boiled up Otago Harbour sea water) crystals (white ones) and kauri gum (brown ones) and is still working on how to link these and bring the work together. She intends to carry on this project in her Hodgkins Fellow year starting in February…

The Trust would like to wish Bridget all the best as she embarks on her next Dunedin residency just over the water... the 2020 Frances Hodgkins Fellowship! Haere tu atu, hoki tu mai.
