Caselberg Trust Margaret Egan Cities of Literature Writers Residency
Caselberg Trust Margaret Egan Cities of Literature Writers Residency
This year the 2025 Caselberg Trust Margaret Egan Cities of Literature Writers Residency is open to applicants from other Cities of Literature around the world and there have been 79 applications from 29 UNESCO Cities of Literature. This is up from 42 applications from 22 cities in the first international year, 2023.
The aim of the residency is to provide international and Aotearoa New Zealand writers an opportunity to work on a substantial piece of creative writing and to foster connections among creative writers in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.
The residency is offered annually for a period of six weeks to writers from other UNESCO Cities of Literature and to Aotearoa New Zealand writers in alternating years. You can read Shu-Ling Chua’s report (2023 Inaugural International resident) here.
In 2025 the residency is offered from the beginning of October to mid-November and coincides with the Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival (17-19 October).
