Second Cornerstone sponsor announced...

We are very pleased to announce that the Otago Polytechnic has become our second major Cornerstone Sponsor. Chairperson Janet Dow ns says “We are absolutely delighted in this vote of confidence from the Otago Polytechnic. They are a natural partner for the Caselberg Trust. The Otago Polytechnic School of Art has an international reputation, and this link will allow us to develop some exciting joint arts and literary projects”

Under the terms of the Cornerstone Sponsorship agreement, resident artists and writers at the Caselberg house will become involved in the creative life of the School of Art, as well as participate in arts projects within the community. Visiting artists to the Polytechnic will be able to use the house whilst they are in Dunedin.

Alistair Regan, Group Manager Otago Polytechnic, and Trust Chairperson Janet DownsOtago Polytechnic School of Art was established in 1896, and is New Zealand’s oldest School of Art. Otago Polytechnic CEO, Mr Phil Kerr says “We see that this partnership with the Caselberg Trust will be beneficial to both parties, and to the wider community. The School of Art is one of our Polytechnics strengths, and this agreement is a vote of confidence
in them and their work. The joint creative work that comes from this agreement will add to Dunedin’s rich cultural heritage” Earlier in the year, we announced that the University of Otago was our first Cornerstone Sponsor, and having both Dunedin major tertiary education establishments as partners will creative the environment for all sorts of synergies and exciting creative projects into the future.

We are now working on finding our final two Cornerstone Sponsors, so watch this space…

UPDATE ON HOUSE ALTERATIONS

Work on getting the house up to scratch has continued on through these last few months, and is now not too far from completion. As you read, Reuben Minards (ace plumber) and Mac McDonald - Top Notch Builders (builder supreme) are down at the house doing final preparation work on the new bathroom. Leslie, Janet & Alan putting in the hard yards!
Our small band of trusty Trustees and helpers have been getting the pink batts in all the walls and re-gibbing. Chris Ingle (electrician supremo) has now completed 95% of the electrical work, & Kevin and Aaron Philips (kings of gib stoppers) has nearly completed the plastering work. Also thanks to Murray Turner (painting maestro) for the advice on painting A BIG BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF THESE VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers from the Dunedin Training Institute have been in this week to size up the painting job which they are about to embark on. They will
be doing the entire exterior and interior of the house!! We have also had the good fortune of having the Moana House folk along to help dig trenches out of the back for the main water pipes, and to help move the sizable amount of mulch we were donated.

Fundraising….grants received

Out thanks to the following organisations that have given us grants -
Southern Victorian Charitable Trust Inc, who have given us $1,789 so that we can buy a new log burner for the house.
Pub Charity, who have given us $1,847 for a new shower unit, toilet, and vanity unit in the bathroom

Both of these grants are a huge help for us in our aim to have the house up and running by the middle of the coming winter season.
