HOW FRIENDS WILL BENEFIT FROM THE TRUST.

As well as creating their own art during their time at Gwyn Street, artists and writers in residence will make themselves available to Friends of the Trust and the Community through The cottage containing a library and works of art will be open to the public from time to time and to Friends for special events. Friends will receive a quarterly newsletter and invitations to attend gala occasions, functions and fund raising events. Friends will be given the opportunity to purchase original works of art by Residents and other New Zealand artists.

HOW NEW ZEALAND BENEFITS FROM THE TRUST.

Like the Sargeson house in Takapuna, the McCahon house in Titirangi, and the Lilburn house in Thorndon, the Caselberg cottage will become the focus of residencies for writers and artists of national and international standing. The Caselberg cottage will be unique in that it will support both literary and visual artists. Visiting artists will have chance to work in a part of New Zealand that has inspired so many writers and artists, past and present, and honour the creative tradition established by Charles Brasch and continued by Anna and John Caselberg. Standing a few hundred metres from the first house built by James Fletcher, founder of Fletcher Industries, the Caselberg cottage will be another landmark on Dunedin and New Zealand’s cultural landscape.
